My background is in economics – I studied at Erasmus University Rotterdam – but my real education happened in the field. I’ve held CMO roles at Nutricia, McDonald’s, and Unilever, where I spent almost 15 years working across different regions and roles. After initiating a management buyout of the European Bertolli business, I joined Enrico Roots in Good Food as a shareholder and CMO, which gave me a very different perspective, working in a smaller company as an entrepreneur. Throughout my career I have built a strong track record in brand building and advertising, and when members bring strategic or branding challenges to the table, I can draw on nearly 30 years of experience – including a lot of time navigating alignment issues and internal conflicts in complex matrix organizations. I know what those situations feel like from the inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My peer groups have an atmosphere that is informal but serious. We are all curious, naturally drawn to learning, and always looking for new perspectives. What makes the real difference is confidentiality – everything stays in the room. That foundation of trust is what allows people to bring their most difficult and intimate dilemmas to the table. I use a mix of techniques to keep sessions fresh and engaging, including the hot seat, case discussions, and breakouts. When I was at Unilever, inspiration and peer exchange were built into the culture – internal and external networks were always within reach.
