Louai Al Roumani is the bestselling author of “Lessons from a Warzone: How to be a Resilient Leader in Times of Crisis published by Penguin in 2020, which The Times called ‘A remarkable book telling business leaders what to do when disaster strikes’.

Louai Al Roumani was a key member of the management team at Banque Bemo Saudi Fransi (BBSF) in Syria when the conflict erupted in 2011. Over the next four years, as head of finance and strategy, Louai led his team through unprecedented challenges: a 97% currency depreciation, constant threats of violence, six CEOs in eight years, and a skyrocketing default rate. Despite these challenges, Louai and his team built resilience, kept their bank thriving, and innovated in ways that protected their clients and staff.
